Ivar Bergland

 

Director ICT and Engineering

 

Ivar Bergland is liable for commercialisation of ICT, engineering and nanotechnology project in Birkeland. He and his team stimulate idea creation and helps researchers protect and commercialize their inventions in order to bring innovative technologies and products to market.

 

Ivar joined Birkeland in 2004. He has a Master of Science degree from Luleå University of Technology, Sweden.  Ivar previously worked at Campus Kjeller AS and has experience in commercialisation of ICT and Nanotechnology.

 

   

Kristin Sandereid

Director of Business Development

Kristin Sandereid is responsible for commercialisation of life science projects in Birkeland. She and her team stimulate idea creation and helps researchers protect and commercialize their inventions in order to bring innovative technologies and products to market.

Kristin joined Birkeland in 2005. She is Master of Science in Molecular Biology from The University of Bergen. Kristin previously worked at Forinnova (Sarsia Innovation AS) and has experience in commercialisation of Life Science.

 

   

 

Jannicke I. Kristoffersen

Project Manager

Jannicke I. Kristoffersen works with innovation and entrepreneurship within ICT and Nanotechnology. Jannicke has worked with innovation from the University of Oslo since 2005.

Jannicke Kristoffersen has a master degree in ICT from the University of Tromsø. She has also attended Gründerskolen, which is an education program within entrepreneurship at the University of Oslo and National University of Singapore.

 

Katrine Rese Shadidi

 

Senior Project Manager

 

Katrine Rese Shadidi is a Senior Project Manager in the Life Science team in Birkeland. Katrine har worked with innovation from life Science at the University of Oslo since 2003. Before this she worked in the marketing department at Dynal Biotech ASA.

 

Katrine has a scientific academically background with a PhD in immunology and cell biology from the University of Oslo.

 

Kirsten Stangebye

Patent Manager 

Kirsten Stangebye is responsible for administering the company’s patent portfolio, and collaborates closely with the project managers in order to secure and refine the University’s IPR.

Stangebye came to Birkeland in 2007 from Patentstyret, where she has worked for several years as a patent examiner in the filed of biotechnology. In Patentstyret she was also involved in promoting the understanding and knowledge of IPR in the industry and academia. Stangebye has a master degree in biochemistry.

 

  

Ole Kristian Skaar

Business Analyst/Controller/Developer

Ole Kristian Skaar is the CFO of Birkeland Innovasjon. He is also involved extensively in business analysis and develpment. Ole Kristian has experience from a range of different industries from IT, engineering, investments, finance and insurance. He has worked with business analysis, controlling and development in roles ranging from the consultant to the CEO, CFO, economic advisor and controller.

Ole Kristian finished his master thesis “UMTS – Content, Services and price-structures” at the department of Industrial Economics ant Technology Management at the Norwegian University of Science and Tehcnology in the year 2000.

 

   

Bjarne Tvete

Senior Business Developer

Bjarne Tvete joined Birkeland Innovation in February 2008. Bjarne is responsible for business development of start-up companies and for licensing of new technology within the fields of ICT and nanotechnology.

Bjarne has extensive managerial and business development experience at large organisations, such as Alcatel, and at start-up companies. Before joining Birkeland Innovation Bjarne was M.D. of Internkontroll NO AS. Prior to that Bjarne was M.D. and co-founder of Energypoint AS, which was sold to the Swedish OMX Group in 2002.

Bjarne received a B.Sc. in Information Systems Engineering and an M.Sc. in Digital Signal Processing both from the University of Surrey in England and an Executive M.B.A. from ESCP-EAP in Paris.

Jørund Sollid

 

Senior Project Manager 

 

Jørund Sollid is a senior Project Manager in the Life Science team in Birkeland. Jørund has a Ph.D in the field of physiology and molecular biosciences from the University of Oslo. Subsequently he joined Roche Pharmaceuticals as Country Medical Advisor for their Oncology portfolio.

 

When joining Birkeland Innovation as a Senior Project Manager in August 2008, he came from a position as Senior Advisor in Innovation and Technology Development at PERA Norway.  

 

 

Ninia M. Johnsen

Director of Intellectual Property Rights

Ninia M. Johnsen has been Director of intellectual property rights (IPR) since August 2005. Her main responsibility is to secure, administer and refine IPR for the University of Oslo with special emphasis on patents. Johnsen also works with licensing of technology and collaboration agreements between UiO and industrial partners.

Johnsen came to Birkeland from Dynal Biotech ASA (Invitrogen Inc.) where she was IPR Director. She also has experience from Onsagers working as patent attorney, and from Norwegian Medicines Agency. Johnsen has a master degree in cell biology and a PhD in toxicology.

 

 

 

 

Helle Thorsen

 

Lawyer

 

Helle Thorsen has been Birkeland's in-house lawyer since August 2009, working with all aspects of contracts and IPR. She came to Birkeland from the University of Oslo, where she was responsible for the portfolio of externally financed research contracts. Prior to that, she worked as an attorney with the law firm of Wiersholm and as a lawyer for the Norwegian Competition Authority. Before moving to Norway, she worked as managing editor at the Parker School at Columbia University, NY. Helle holds a Danish law degree and a Master of Laws in Trade Regulation from NYU School of Law.
